Set Your Mind On The Things Of GOD (pt1).

Good morning, it's a blessing to see all here and to be worshiping God with you.
This morning we're going to be talking about, well last week we had a sermon on the
Great Commission and Jesus said, all authority in heaven and earth has been given to me.
Go and make disciples of all the nations, teaching them to observe all I commanded you.
And really this, that last part, teaching them to observe all I commanded you is what
I want to spend some time on for a good part of this year and our teaching is, what
did Jesus teach us to do and what does it mean to be his, to become his disciple and
what has he commanded us that we need to observe.
So I want to begin teaching this on some of the more difficult aspects of Jesus' teaching.
So one of the contexts where this teaching comes in and I actually want to spend some
time just reading scripture this morning because there are five places where Jesus has
a very similar teaching and one of the things I would like to do is just impress in our
minds.
I would actually say if you have a Bible or a Bible app or whatever and get it out and
follow along because we want to read these five places where Jesus makes these statements
about what it takes to become his disciples because in two places Peter is taught, Jesus
is teaching, okay I'm going to have to go into Jerusalem and I'm going to have to be
rejected by the leaders, the scribes and the priests and then they're going to kill
me and in three days I'm going to rise again.
And it says Peter takes him aside and says, Lord, you are messing up, why are you talking
about this?
This is wrong, you're not on the way to go get killed, you're on the way to go get victory
and Jesus says to Peter, get behind me saying, you're not setting your mind on the things
of God but on the things of man, stop right there for a moment, see what it Jesus rebuked
Peter and tell him, here's what you're doing, you're setting your mind not on the things
of God but on the things of man.
So when we read, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you, one of
the major aspects and what in context what we're talking about is who can be my disciple?
Okay, so these are the commands for the disciples and at least in two places this comes up
in the context of set your mind on the things of God and really these teachings, that's
what they're talking about is set your mind on the things of God, not on the things of
man.
There are all sorts of things and that men will place our value in, that will place our
priorities on, will place our hopes and future security on, that Jesus says, if you do that,
you are no disciple of mine.
And stop and think, that's a significant teaching, that is a significant command, you are not
worthy to be called my disciple.
Not that, you know, you should do better, you know, that's one thing, you should do better,
you know, my disciples should work on this, should do better.
Now he's saying, you're not worthy, it's not even on the table at this point.
I will not consider it, I have nothing to do with you.
So when Jesus says, teach them to observe all the things I have commanded you, this is
a pretty big deal, this is a pretty significant and really what I would say, this seems to be
a lot of the foundation work for what does it mean to be a disciple, and how do I need
to think about the Lord?
So here we just talked about this, but this is what we studied last week, the Great Commission.
Jesus, all authority has been given to him in heaven and on earth, and he was told, all
right, come out here and teach people to observe all I have commanded you, which means the
last few years of Jesus' ministry, Jesus was teaching.
He was giving his disciples, and who would become apostles, everything necessary to make
a disciple.
So that's what he's doing.
So as we go back and we read this, where we've got to recognize, okay, Jesus had been
doing this, this groundwork, giving them instructions, showing them what to do, and now
he's saying, all right, go and teach other people to observe all that I've commanded you,
and I think the significant point we may last week on this is Jesus' authority has been
given to me.
The this command today is absolutely no less potent than it was when he commanded it
to the original 12 guys on a hill in Galilee right before he ascended, or maybe shortly,
I guess he didn't ascend off that hill, he's ascended off the Mount of Olives, but when
he commanded it, it carried a weight of authority that these men reorganize their whole life based
apart, but when we read it today, it carries that same weight and authority and should have
the same effect on us, and the question you begin to ask is, does it have the same effect
on us?
Do we read Jesus say, go make disciples, do we take that seriously?
Has that changed the way you live your life, or the way you think about things?
Have you like the disciples, you know, there, they have a problem come up in their church
and they're like, no, you get other men to do that, we can't neglect the teaching of
the word in prayer, like that's what Jesus gave us to do, we have this huge responsibility,
I'm not going to get distracted from it.
Is that how the Great Commission hits you, or is it one of those things, oh yeah, someone
ought to get baptized from time to time, like that's not what Jesus meant, he said, go conquer,
go take back what belongs to me, go remove Satan's strongholds from this earth and technically
for us, from court of land, like go do that work, that's what this was and his apostles
went and did it, and they went far and wide, and so when we hear it, we need, we're told,
you okay, here in court of land, this is our responsibility, we should be doing it,
and if we don't take it as seriously as the apostles are, we're not following this commands.
See Jesus is an eternal king, and his command stands until the end, so let's go and open up our
Bibles, here's a second, all right, okay, Matthew chapter 10 verse 32 through 38.
Therefore, everyone who confesses need before men, I will confess him before my father who is
in heaven, but whoever denies me before men, I will deny him before my father who is in heaven.
Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth, I did not come to bring peace but the
sword, before I came to set a man against his father and a daughter against her mother,
and a daughter in law against her mother in law, and a man's enemies should be the members of
his own household, or will be the members of his own household. He who loves father and mother
more than me is not worthy of me, and he who loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me,
and he who does not take his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me. He who has found his life
will lose it, and he who has lost his life for my sake will find it. So that's our first reading,
but you see I have these organized using very similar language. It's my summary, but I use the
same summary for each thing that says basically the same thing, so we can see the commonalities.
So as we read this, look up there, it says, confess or deny. If you confess to Jesus, he'll confess
to you if you deny him, he'll deny you. I'm not here to bring peace. I came to bring a sword.
You need to be hate the members of your family. So we'll talk about that, but that sounds pretty
brutal when you say it that way. Hate the members of your family. Deny yourself, take up your cross
and follow me. If you find life, you lose it. If you lose your life, you'll find it. So those are
Jesus' commands. So let's turn over about you 16. This is where Peter, what they say makes the
great confession and then gets told to get behind me, Satan. I saw a little, it was like a video clip,
a skit, someone had done, and it shows Peter pop up behind an actor who's supposed to be Jesus and
he says, 10. And he's like, and he's like, get behind me and say 10, right? And so he then he
kind of says it over and over. He finally realizes what's being said, but it was kind of funny,
like he pops up behind him and says 10. All right, Matthew chapter 16, starting in verse 24,
I'm a backup, verse 23. He turned to Peter and said, get behind me, Satan, you are a stumbling
block to me, for you are not setting your mind on God's interests, but on man's. Then Jesus said
to his disciples, if anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself, take up his cross and
follow me, for whoever wishes to save his life will lose it and whoever loses his life for my
sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul,
or what will a man give an exchange for his soul? For the Son of Man is not going to, is going to come
in the glory of his father and his angels and will repay every man according to his deeds.
So I want to stop right there. So he's going to return, he's going to repay every man according
to his deeds. And I was turned over to Mark chapter 8 verse 34, this is our scripture reading,
but we'll read it again. And he summoned the crowd and his disciples inside to them.
If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself, take up his cross and follow me,
for whoever wishes to save his life will lose it and whoever loses his life for my sake
and the gospels will save it. For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and
forfeits his soul? For what will a man give an exchange for his soul? For whoever is ashamed of
me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed
of him when he comes in his glory and his father with his father and his holy angels.
And we have Alala's Gwen turn over to Luke chapter 9 and you're noticing we're repeating it,
but that's okay because we need to have this really set into our minds and know clearly
what does the Bible say? Jesus requires of his disciples. So 9 Luke 9 verse 23
and he was saying to them all, if anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself,
take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it,
but whoever loses his life for my sake, he is the one who will save it. For what is a man profited
if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits his himself? For whoever is ashamed of me and my
words, the Son of Man will also be ashamed or will be ashamed of him when he comes in glory and
the father and the glory of the father and the holy angels. But truthfully, I say to you,
there are some here standing that will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God.
And we have one more. This is Luke chapter 14. This one rings a little bit different actually,
but another, it puts a little bit of a different take on it, different wording, I guess.
The Luke 14 verse 25. That large crowds were going along with him and he turned and said to them,
if anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and
brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. Whoever does not
carry his own cross or whoever, yeah, whoever does not carry his own cross and come after me cannot
be my disciple. For which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and
calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he is laid a foundation
and is not able to finish and all who observe it begin to ridicule him, saying, this man began to build
and was not able to finish. Or what king, when he sets out to meet another king in battle,
will not first sit down and consider whether he has strong enough with 10,000 men to encounter the
one coming against him with 20,000. Or else, while he was still far away, he will send a delegation
and ask for terms of peace. So then, none of you can be my disciples who does not give up all his
possessions. Therefore, salt is good, but if even the salt has become tasteless with what will
it be seasoned, it is useless either for the soil or for the manure pile, it is thrown out.
For who has ears to hear, let him hear. So this last one I like, it says largely the same thing
different words, but notice at the end of this, it talks about so that none of you can be my disciples
who does not give up all his own possessions. I think that is a core concept of all the things
that have been repeated through here. If you confess me, then I will confess you if you deny me,
then I will deny you. If you need to take up your cross and Luke adds daily, this is not a
from time to time kind of thing, what is necessary? You know, he says, take up your cross daily.
The cross was not a symbol of Christianity back then. The cross was, it's kind of like saying
go to the gallows or strap yourself into the electric chair daily, like that's what take up
your cross daily means. And I think there's even more to it because there's an aspect of shame
that goes along with caring across because your charge is being broadcast to everyone you walk
by, they're saying, okay, this is why this man is guilty. And so there's a shame aspect to it.
But what Jesus says, if you're not willing to do that, if that, not even if you're willing,
if you don't do that, whether or not you're willing, then don't even bother.
Like, that seems harsh to me. You're not worthy to be my disciple. Look up again here in Luke 14.
It says, if anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children
and brothers and sisters, yes, even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. Now, I remember being
a new dad and you read that, you're like, wait a minute, there's no way. Like, there's no way I'm
going to say I hate my baby, right? And so here we see this. Okay, this is hard teaching. Whatever,
whatever is being asked of you is incredibly difficult and incredibly counterintuitive. And it is,
it shows a level of commitment. So let's go ahead and talk about this for me. And I want to begin
with this confess or deny combo that Peter brings up because I think these definitions are helpful to
us. So this word confess, we talked about this in class a little bit this morning, but the Greek word
is homologue, what it really kind of has the meaning of is to speak the same as. So whatever Jesus
said, I say, whatever I'm going to speak in such a way that associates me with Jesus, that's what
confess means. So for instance, a lot of times like if you're talking to someone from a particular
denomination, you can tell by their choice of words what denomination they are. If they start
talking a lot about the sovereignty of God, okay, they're probably Calvinists because that's a way
that the Calvinists. If you're talking about, you know, eschatology and time stuff and they start
saying a lot about how you have to read the Bible literally, well, that's probably a pre-millennial
person because that's one of the things they really talk about. And so our language a lot of times
associates, if you say what in the world, you're probably a thinly because that's something that
thinly say on a pre-regular basis. So, you know, it's just like there's ways we associate with
people and it's how what we say and what we do, it kind of links you to who you are. So that's
what it means to confess, right? To express openly ones allegiance to a proposition or a person
to confess or have a confession. It's, oh yeah, yeah, I know the guy. And I was taught by him. In fact,
I try to model my life after him. That's what it means to confess. So it says, if you confess me
before men, Jesus says, if you confess me before men, I might confess you before your father.
Yeah, I know the guy. He tries to do what I do. Like, of course, he's one of my disciples.
So here's the second one, deny. So here's the meaning. To say that one does not know about
or is in any way related to a person or event to deny. So I don't know anything about him.
So sometimes you might, you know, let's say you bring an employee to a job, you don't really
know him that well and all of a sudden he starts acting a little goofy. You're like, yeah, no,
we just hired him, right? What are you doing? Well, I didn't know him that well. I didn't realize
he was going to be this way. I just hired him like, don't blame me. I he'll probably not
become a back next time, right? Like, you're kind of making those kind of statements because
you're distancing yourself from him. So in Mark chapter 14, here we see Peter denying Jesus.
And notice what he's doing. And I always like to stop and just think for a moment, okay,
what's the situation? Jesus is on trial. He's having a hard time defending himself.
All the influential teachers, all the high status, high rank people are mocking him and making
fun of him and making his teaching seem like it has no merit and no weight and it's kind of dumb.
Like, and also charging him with some sort of sedition that could carry with it the death
penalty, not just for Jesus, but for people who are associated with him. And so now here's Peter
kind of watching what's going on. He had this mindset like, Jesus is going to be a king
and I'm going to be his Joab, right? Like David and Joab or Saul and Abner. Like, I'm the
note right hand man. Jesus won't have to get his hands dirty because I'm going to get my hands dirty
form. Like, that's what Peter thought or at least like the mighty men of David, right? Like,
I'm his special forces. Now, all of a sudden, that guy you said you would follow anywhere,
that even though everybody else runs away, I will die for you. Now, that guy is in trouble,
but in a shameful way. So that's where Peter is. Jesus is in trouble, but in a very shameful
way, it's not going the way you expected or planned that you had hoped for.
And now you have to start thinking, if this doesn't work out,
where are me and my family going to stand in all this? So Peter is there kind of sig how it's
going to go. Mark 14 verse 66. As Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls
of the high priest came and saying, Peter, warming himself, she looked at him and said,
you also were with the Nazarene, but he denied it saying, I neither know, nor understand what you're
talking about. And he went out of that porch. I'd do that. What are you talking about? Like you're,
that wasn't me. Like, why would you think I would be with this guy? Seriously, the servant
girl saw him again and began once more to say to the bystanders, this is one of them.
But again, he denied it. And after a little while, the bystanders once again saying to Peter,
surely you're one of them for your go in. He began to curse and swear, I do not know this man.
I do not know this man. You or what you were talking like, I do not know this man. You were talking
about. So what was Peter doing when he was denying Jesus, distancing himself from him,
trying not to be associated with him. I don't know it. And so here's just a site. Here's a
hello side message for you in this. When Jesus didn't want anyone to suspect that he had anything
to do, or when Peter didn't want anyone to suspect, he had anything to do with Jesus. Notice how
he cursed him for. And so if your cursing is wearing in your life, what do you think that's doing
for you? Do you think people are going to listen to that and say, oh yeah, he's probably a follower
of Jesus. No. And so take that for what it's worth. That's a bonus lesson. That's what we're talking
about. Jesus, Peter was distancing himself from the Lord. And that's when Peter denied the Lord.
I want nothing to do with it. All right. And so now here in Acts chapter 4 verses 18 through 20,
we're going to see another period, another time when Peter confesses the Lord.
Acts 4, 18 through 20.
Okay. So I'm a star in verse 17. But so that it will not spread any further among the people,
let us warn them to no longer to speak no longer to any man in this name. So the leaders
have Peter and John actually arrested and they're going to tell them don't teach Jesus anymore.
Verse 18, when they had summoned them, they commend them not to speak or teach at all in the
name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered it said to them, whether it is right in the sight of
God to give heed to you rather than to God, you be the judge. For we cannot stop speaking about
what we have seen and heard. Now what did Peter do? Stop talking about Jesus. Hey, you tell me
whether or not it's right for me to talk about not some things I know, the things I have seen and
heard. Not only do I know Jesus, I was there. I walked with him. I saw this with my own eye.
So isn't that quite a difference between what Peter did when he was denying Jesus? I do not know
the man. What are you even talking about? Like why would you even say that about me? To now,
not only do I know this stuff, I know it because I saw it and I was there. And God told me to talk
about it and I'm not going to stop. Stop talking. Just stop talking. No, I'm not going to stop.
You could do whatever you want. I'm a follower of Jesus. So you see this too,
so why are you elaborating on this? Well, God says where Jesus says, okay, if you deny me,
I'm going to deny you. If you confess me, I'm going to confess you. But you notice what else is said
here is deny yourself. See, we got to elaborate on this. We got to really wrap our mind around
what does it mean to deny? What does it mean to confess? Because Jesus said you need to deny yourself.
How many of us do that? Try to take steps away from, I don't know that guy. I want nothing
to do with him. I'm embarrassed to even be associated with him. How many of us do that when we
talk about what I want? What I prefer? My will, over God's will, or my will over your will,
or my desires over God's desires, my desires over your desires. How many of us step away and act
like it's like embarrassing to get what you want? What did Jesus tell us to do? Okay, so let's
put it in context. If you have to choose to obey the Great Commission, go out, make disciples,
serve, love one another, put other people's interests above your own interests,
how do you respond to what you want? Yeah, but what about what I want? Yeah, I'm not able to
do the things I want because I'm so busy serving these other people. Is that denying yourself or
is that confessing yourself? Is that have anything to do with taking up a cross,
putting to death your own desires in order to be aligned with the will of God in your life?
But notice what Jesus said. That's what you ought to be doing. This is not passive disconnect. This
is active resistance. When Peter denied Jesus, it wasn't just passive. It was active resistance.
It was active denial. It was making a point to get away from it.
And Jesus says you need to be denying yourself.
And order that because here's the context, right? Is Jesus don't you go to the, don't you talk
about dying? Let's talk about going to the cross. Jesus says, you are not sending your,
your, you are sending your mind on those things of man, your will on the things of man
and rather than the things of God. Right? So we need to set our minds on the things of God and
deny ourselves. It doesn't matter what Peter wants or what Peter thinks or what Peter cares about.
What matters is what's the will of God here? And let's just do that. And you say, okay,
what other places will this prayer? Well, maybe someone's telling me I should do something different.
How defensive do we get about that kind of stuff? Defend ourselves. Take our own side.
No, we should deny ourselves. Even if they're saying it not the right way, it's okay,
what's the will of God here? Let's go ahead and do that. So this is an important thing. It's okay,
what does it mean to confess? What does it mean to deny? And we need to be confessing the Lord.
But we also need to be denying ourself and elevating the Lord. So I want to come back here real quick.
The next thing I want to talk about, and let me just
a real quick. So we see this, this section here, hate the members of your family. And we have
this one here, which also says, hate the members of your family. Now, Matthew does actually say,
and Luke, it actually says, unless you hate the members of your family, you stop and you think
about that for a minute. So some people are like, hey, I already got that pattern down.
I'm a winner. Like, that's not what it means. All right. You're not just supposed to hate them,
right? Like, like, I want nothing to do with them. Like, you know, this isn't saying that. What
this really says is in Matthew, in Matthew 10, 37, I don't know if you noticed, but it said,
whoever loves them more than me. And so this is not, this is about ranking or priority.
More than this is about hostility towards. But that does not mean he didn't use the word hate.
And that doesn't mean that hate doesn't have a certain meaning, right? You've heard that it was
said to love your friends and hate your enemies. Same word. Hate your enemies. What does that mean?
To actively seek someone's harm, right? To actively work against them. Like, and so that word is in
there. So is it in there? It's not there to say, okay, you should have a black heart and hate.
What it says is, if it comes to making a choice between Jesus and your family,
it shouldn't be a competition. Choose Jesus. Now, in, I think I want to look here in Luke 14,
verse 26, if anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children
and brothers and sisters, yes, even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. If I tell you to do something
and you say, I'm not going to do it to preserve my own life. You made your choice. That's what that
says. Well, Jesus tells you to do something. Yeah, but I'm married into this family and
they really want me to be a certain way or to believe a certain way. People have to deal with this.
Like, when you look at kind of the American cult groups like Mormons, the Jehovah Witnesses,
and things like that, some day Adventists, one of the things they do is they say, okay,
if you depart from the faith, you are cut off from your family.
That's pretty heavy cost. Now, you learn about Jesus. You learn about the Jesus of the Bible,
because the Jehovah Witnesses talk about Jesus and Mormons talk about Jesus, but they're not
talking about the Biblical Jesus. They're talking about something that they claim was created.
So just two different definitions altogether. And so you learn about the Jesus of the Bible.
And you say, I think we need to follow this Jesus of the Bible.
I say, go follow him and your dead does. What do you choose?
Your wife, or your husband, I'm going to become a Christian. You become a Christian,
and I'm going to leave you so fast you won't even know it yet. I want nothing to do with that.
Or they actively and hostily work against you in order to cause, trip you up.
And, you know, there are times when we feel like we want to shelter and protect our kids when
they're doing harmful wrong things, especially as they get older. If you do that and compromise
your relationship with Jesus, if you compromise your relationship with Jesus to preserve your
marriage, you compromise your relationship with Jesus to preserve family connections.
Jesus says it's the same as if you compromise your relationship to me to preserve your own life.
You're not my disciple. My disciples recognize the authority of God in me and that I come first.
So, let's talk for a moment about this, and there's a couple of scriptures I want to read,
and this will be where we wrap it up for this morning.
Two passages in Jeremiah. So, Jeremiah was a prophet. He was faithfully proclaiming God's word.
And now, here's how his life turned out, or aspects of his life turned out. So, this is Jeremiah 12,
starting in verse 5 through 6. Jeremiah is saying, look how hard my life is. God,
when are you going to take some action? And God's answer to him in this complaint about God not
taking enough action and how hard it is being a prophet. This is Jeremiah 12 verse 5.
If you've run with the footmen and they have tired you out, then how are you going to compete with the
horses? Say, Jeremiah, you haven't even started yet. You're warming up. If you can't run with the
footmen, how are you going to run against the horses? That's what I have planned for you.
If you've run with the footmen and they've tired you out, then how can you compete with the horses?
If you fall down in the land of peace, how will you do in the thicket of the Jordan?
For even your brothers and your household and the household of your father,
even they have dealt treacherily with you, even they have cried aloud after you. Do not believe
them, although they say nice and many nice things to you. Isn't that nice? Jeremiah is saying,
Lord, everyone is against me. And God's like, oh, you don't know the half of it, Jeremiah.
Your family is working against you and they're pretending like they're not.
It's going to get way worse. I just see a little bit of God's maybe tongue and cheek humor going
on here for him to say that, but look here in 15 verse 10. A little bit later down the road,
here's Jeremiah's comment about what his life is like being a prophet of the Lord.
What would it be my mother that you have borne me as a man of strife and a man of contention
to all the land? I've not lent, nor have men lent money to me, yet everyone curses me.
So you know how it's like when you borrow money from somebody and you can't pay them back.
All of a sudden it's like you're voiding and dodging that person because every time you talk to
whether or not they're thinking about it, you're thinking about it, oh, I owe them money.
And then you're the guy who loaned money, you really need it back.
And then that guy starts being dodgy and missing you and you're like upset at him.
Like that's what Jeremiah is like, I haven't done anything like that. And yet
everybody hates me. What Jesus is saying here is welcome to being a disciple of Christ.
Right? You're not in it. I mean, you will make friendships. You will have good relationships.
But everything becomes secondary to the will of Christ in your life.
And I think when he uses these kind of terms, that's what he's saying. So you can be prepared
when it gets difficult. When you're asked difficult things, when difficult
challenges are exposed to you, that you need to overcome. And so as we look at this, you know, okay,
what does it take to be a disciple of Christ? What does it take to obey all the commandments
that he has given to us? I think it's good for us to think of these things to consider him
and to realize, you know, there's a cost to following Jesus and we need to be willing to pay that cost.
And this is not something that was for them back in the day. It's something that is for us
right now. So as we consider these things, as we think about what the cost of being a disciple is,
let's go ahead and I think as we stand, this is a good song for it, he's able to deliver the,
he's the only one able to deliver you, right? Your family can't, your own will can't,
your own solutions can't. A lot of times we find ourselves in problem with sin is because we
came up with our own solutions rather than listening to God's. So Jesus is able to deliver us and
we need to, as we sing this song, consider, this is the invitation. Consider how actually,
how much priority do I give Christ in my life and the command of Christ actually? We want to,
we want to really overlook a lot of things and say, yeah, I do it. No, actually how much do you do?
And as you consider that, consider the scripture we read and say, do I do what Jesus asked me to do to
be his disciple? If the answer is no, it says, Jesus is going to return in the glory of his father
with the angels and he's going to repay everyone according to their deeds. We better have our,
our priorities right and, and our, and be doing what God would ask us to do. So that's our call
this morning. If you're here this morning and, and the, um, one of the baptizers where you have,
have any spiritual needs, you can come and let those be made own to me as we stand and sing this
song of invitation.
